Currently this very poor photograph is all we have, the whereabouts of the plaque is not known. The Swaffham Prior Zion Baptist Chapel is now a private dwelling and so far I have not found out much of the history of the building. The Chapel opened in 1862, for a short time in 1998 it actually served as the community Post Office.. The tablet was unveiled on 20th November 1919. Charles Peter Allix seems to have tried to create peace between the two religious communities by speaking in the Chapel at the unveiling of the tablet a few weeks before the unveiling of the windows he had helped to design and pay for in St. Mary's church, which seemingly did not go down too well with the vicar of the latter. The memorial is a white marble tablet with a nowy head. To avoid confusion, you should be aware that there used to be another Chapel in Swaffham Prior, the Zoar Particular Baptist Chapel, built in 1821 and now a private dwelling, in Rogers Road. Whether that had a war memorial is unknown.
